LO5 - to be able to edit cinematic quality footage

Image
Throughout the first edit we have utilised a lot of different editing techniques in order to create some great scenes, for example I filmed the first scene twice and had the actor essentially have a conversation with himself, this was done in order to connote the video of him having an inner argument with himself taking inspiration from soliloquies seen in Shakespearean plays, I believe that using a visual representation of this rather than just an auditory one was more appropriate to ensuring the audience clearly understands the narrative. In the cuts I use a VR lens flare filter to give an indicator to the audience that this is a flashback and to match the tone of the characters voice, that being quite fast and upbeat, I decided to use quick cuts as an alternative to long takes however I also wanted to give balance and ensure there isn't too much editing so that the film is at a high quality and doesn't move away from the genre of love and romance. After this I added the titl...

LO3 - be able to plan the recording of a cinematic quality scene (treatment)

Purpose   The purpose of this short film is to entertain and to show the audience the irony of today's society how you never really know who will end up being part of the LGBTQ+ community and who will not be . This story also shows the saying of ‘don't judge a book by its cover’ for the female stereotypically view of how women are the ones that are obsessed with the idea of finding their true love and the stereotypical view of love at first sight.    Form and genr e   This short film is going to be between 5 and 10 minutes in length, with its style being social realism , this means that all events and emotion will be genuine and not overexaggerated. This is so that the audience may empathise with the characters easier which will draw them into the plot and the story . Since this is a short film, its narrative will be quite simple as to not confuse the audience, it also allows the story to be fluid and move at the correct pace, with not too much information ...

LO4.1 - Be able to record cinematic quality footage

Image
PASS CRITERIA LO4.1 Here is a sample of some of our rushes recorded over multiple days while producing our short film. As we were aiming to create cinematic quality footage for our short film we decided to manipulate the setting of our camera based on our understanding of how ISO, frame rate, aperture and shutter speed can affect the recorded footage. For example in indoor scenes, the lighting was much darker and we lacked elements to create good lighting, so we would manipulate and raise the ISO of the scene, this would increase the sensitivity of the camera to light, this would make the scene seem brighter and remove the need to make a 3-point lighting system as the location did not have much access to power outlets and didn't have the space to accommodate the stands for lights. For some shots we also manipulated the aperture of the scene, though we did not use it to a great extent as we didn't feel it create the desired effect we were looking for. However in the close-u...

We will be  drowning out noise in the background , motion and what  she is  doing to convey a natural routine and  habits  the main reason we would be do this is bec ause it gives a natural feel to this film.   S o ,  the film feels like this the  shots  where  we  look at background are to do with  significant  places or places that are repeated, the mirror street and the table at the jazz cafĂ©  The settings that we will be using in our short film would be the change in the lighting for example there  w ill be low er light temperatures to create a warmer connotation and atmosphere to the film, this will further add to the genre of the  film. To make to main characters more visible during the short film   we will be blurring the background , this will make the viewers focus stay on the main character.  The main frame rate we will be using is  30 FPS as this is the best thing to use when...
